Keep up to date with all the latest Chapelton news. Find out what we are up to in June.
Demelza Fundraising
Since the start of January of this year we have been working hard to support the incredible charity that is Demelza. This charity is close to the hearts of some of us and deeply admired by the rest. The work they do to support not only the extremely sick children in their care but also the support given to the family members is inspiring. Without charities like Demelza helping in times of need many families would be lost. Supporting and caring for poorly children with many different needs is no mean feat & Demelza take it in their stride. Here at Chapelton we are aiming to raise £1000+ by organising internal events and money raisers. For our latest big money donation we look to our MD Neil Skelton & Sales Manager Rob Barker. Neil has promised to donate £150 if Rob promises not to cut his hair until the end of the year. I can see a ponytail coming on … Get in touch if you have any ideas for us or if you would like to donate yourself.
Cocoa Paper
We are pleased to introduce our new Cocoa Paper, created using a mixture of wood pulp and cocoa husks it is a truly unique material, both in appearance and construction. The paper was created with the circular economy in mind, the desire to use waste materials to create something new. Not only does this paper put to good use materials that would otherwise be thrown away but it is compostable recyclable and biodegradable so it has no detrimental effect on the environment when disposed of. The unique appearance of our Cocoa Paper gives it an edge within the packaging sector. It is beautiful when used in packaging and makes any product stand out. Cocoa paper is a direct food contact approved material and its use in the food sector has taken off. As a unique material its use within chocolate and confectionery packaging is a given. Its uses stretch much further than the chocolate world however, as the picture below illustrates it can be used in many different applications.
Straws
With the rise in demand for plastic free options, especially within the food sector it is not a surprise that the plastic straw has had an overhaul. The realisation that the vast majority of the straws used worldwide end up in our waterways and oceans has caused businesses and consumers to sit up and take note. Single use items such as straws are at the top of the list of changes. Although many businesses started to move towards plastic free items months if not years ago the shift has not yet hit the food sector with full force. That could be changing, with McDonald’s now replacing their plastic straws for paper ones, its only a matter of time before others follow suit. If you are looking for paper for straws, look no further. Get in touch with us.
