Cartonboard Properties

UD – Unlined Recycled

UD is a grade of carton board typically produced from layers of recycled fibres. Coating free. Variants include white lined or brown dyed fibres. Due to its recycled content the inside of the board is grey.

The main end uses for this type of cartonboard is:

GD – Pigment Coated Recycled

GD is a cartonboard grade typically made from multiple layers of recycled fibres. The top layer is coated to allow for printing and branding. Due to it being made from recovered fibres the middle and reverse are grey.

The most common end uses for this type of board are:

GT – Pigment Coated Recycled

GT is a grade of paperboard typically made from layers of recycled fibre. GT is pigment coated on the reverse, most commonly white or brown, due to its recycled content the inside is grey.

The main end uses for this type of cartonboard are:

GC – Virgin Fibre Board

Also known as FBB is a cartonboard grade made up of layers of chemical pulp. GC has two variants, these being GC1 & GC2.

GC1 is a white back high bulk material with great printing surface and coated reverse to allow printing on both sides. Used in the packaging of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and retail packaging. 

GC2 is a cream back high bulk and rigid material used for general packaging. Great in the use of retail packaging and branded products.

The major end uses for folding boxboard are:

GZ/GN – Solid Board

GZ/GN, also known as SBS & SUB, are grades of cartonboard made of chemical pulp.

GZ or SBS as it is also known is formed of bleached chemical pulp. It is usually pigment coated on the top and often the reverse. GZ board is white throughout.

GN or SUS as it is also known is an unbleached true kraft board with a white coated top. The middle and reverse of this board are brown. 

Produced using 100% virgin fibre perfect for use in both chilled and frozen food packaging. Great graphical properties and high rigidity and stiffness figures.
